High levels of moisture can wreak havoc on a crawl space if not dealt with properly. High levels of moisture can attract termites and wood destroying fungi that will eat away at the wood structure of the house. Fungi not only deteriorates the structure of the house, it can also be harmful to the residents of the house as the air in your crawlspace seeps into the home.
What to Look for:
- Collapsing floors
- Sticking doors
- Standing water
- Unpleasant odor
Our Fix: Vapor Barriers
A vapor barrier is a plastic sheet laid across the ground of a crawlspace in order to prevent moisture and gasses from entering the crawlspace from the soil. We offer a variety of different vapor barriers ranging from 6 mil loose laid polyethylene to 20 mil reinforced encapsulation all based on the needs of the crawlspace and home owner. All of our solutions are completed with the highest degree of precision and care for your crawl space with your satisfaction in mind.
Our Fix: Dehumidifiers
A dehumidifier is a device that collects the moisture from the air of the crawlspace and converts it to water which can then be removed from the crawlspace via discharge line. A dehumidifier is often necessary for crawl spaces that experience mild to high humidity. At Sutton Specialty, we use the Aprilaire E-series dehumidifier which is backed by a 5 year manufacturer warranty. Our dehumidifiers are wired by licensed electricians that install GFCI surge protected outlets for the dehumidifiers which are always included in our prices.
